Usability Testing
Test products with people with lived experience to qualify their experience
If you genuinely care about accessibility, then you’ll already know that compliance with guidelines is just one small part of it. Usability testing takes you beyond compliance to a more holistic level of accessibility. By observing people using your product, you will find out whether the product is actually fit for purpose rather than whether it just complies with the guidelines.
A typical usability test involves one-to-one, task-based interviews with 12-20 people with different access needs. Usability testing with disabled people can be incorporated you’re your mainstream usability testing. This will give you both usability and accessibility insight.
Access Advisors has a research panel of people with disabilities from across Aotearoa New Zealand. They want to be part of the solution and are interested in being involved. Our panellists have a variety of access needs and want to help you understand what they need to use your product.
We recruit the participants, schedule the sessions and facilitate the research so you can focus on understanding what the findings means for your products. Our researchers have been doing research for 20+ years and understand the nuance of interface, person, access need and assistive tech.
